Proofreading
Proofreading can be defined in two ways:
1 Low-level editing - correcting grammar, punctuation and spelling, checking for inconsistencies, improving clarity, annotating text using proofreading marks and providing the author with a list of queries.
Fees: from £20.00 per hour
Students and academic staff involved in writing theses, dissertations, books and reports:
Fees: from £5.00 per 1,000 words.

2 Checking page proofs produced by the designer/typesetter, identifying errors and typos and checking the layout. This is done at the latter stages of the editorial process before the publication is prepared for print.
Fees: from £18.50 per hour
